Kimiko Shiki Ph.D. Candidate Department of Urban Planning, School of Public Affairs University of California at Los Angeles 3250 Public Policy Building Los Angeles, CA 90095-1656 kshiki(at)ucla.edu Education 2001-Doctoral Student in Urban Planning, University of California, Los Angeles 2001 M.A. in Urban Planning, University of California, Los Angeles 1998 B.A. in Social Science, Waseda University, Tokyo Research Interests I am interested in poverty as it relates to urban spatial structure, housing markets, and housing demography. My research focuses on examining the locational and housing choice behavior of low-income households in the U.S. and exploring the question: why the poor live in central cities.
In my dissertation, I plan to examine and
theorize how the locational decisions of low-income households are
influenced by the availability of urban services (e.g. housing, and
transportation services). |
